Module on offline.php page 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

I would like to include the chat module on the offline.php page of joomla.

I have included the module by calling:
<jdoc:include type="modules" name="offline"/>

The image appears - great.

But when a user clicks on the online chat image a popup window appears (as if it's the chat session) but then it give you the joomla website offline page again.

I guess this is how joomla works, is there any way to allow access to a joomla module from the offline.php page ?

This would be an awesome way to leave contact whilst in maintenance mode.

Thanks

Hello,

The best way to include the JLive! Chat online/offline image on any page on your website is to either create a JLive! Chat online/offline module through your Module Manager... or to use plain HTML to place the JLive! Chat online/offline image... please see the following URL for an example of the online/offline HTML code:

Hi,Thanks for the response.Just to clarify I'm talking about joomla's offline.php ( when you put joomla into maintenance mode).I have included the module with either the script code or the call to the module but when the site is offline it does not work.You get the normal chat pop-up window, but it then loads in the joomla offline page within that pop-up window - with an additional logo ( from the chat pop-up ).I did try late yesterday to try your hosted solution, and guess wht that worked - but I cannot customise images / look and feel for the module within the hosted solution.You can see what I mean here - www.xx.com - I guess there is some over ride which is causing the system to prevent access to the module when the site is in offline mode ? Any pointers ?Thanks

Hi wilson1973,

The issue is when Joomla goes offline, it causes the whole framework to go offline, so you may not be able to get the livechat window to work the way you want when your website is marked as offline through the admin. The only way to accomplish what you are trying to do is to use the hosted version at UltimateLiveChat.com.

As for customizing the hosted version popup window; you can customize the entire look and feel of the popup window via CSS. The only thing you can't do with the hosted version is acccess the PHP files on the backend, but that should only be needed if you are planning on doing some major customizations... for changing images and colors, you can accomplish that by overriding the CSS. You can customize the CSS by logging into your UltimateLiveChat.com account and then clicking on the "Manage" link next to your livechat instance, then proceeding to the Settings page where there is a box at the bottom to override any CSS properties:

Thanks for the info.

I think I will have to look at removing form offline.php as I have made some changes to the php files so cannot progress with the hosted solution.

Thanks anyway.
