Today, I upgraded from 3.8 to 4.08. I uninstalled all the old versions and reinstalled in the proper order. Component / Information / System Check is all "Good". New Key downloaded to WIN desktop application.

At best-t1.com/ you can recreate the problem by initiating a chat, pop-up window displays and prompts, "Please enter your name below:", enter a name, and get the message, "Please enter a valid name".

And a side question, why does JLive want write access to my Joomla configuration.php?

Update: For a couple of reasons, 1) My website visitors and 2) Doubting that I can make 4.0.8 work on my site, I attempted to revert back to my known working 3.8 version. I uninstalled all 4.0.8, and reinstalled all 3.8. Now, the component is present on disk but doesn't show up in my Joomla admin list of components.

The reason I say I'm doubtful 4.0.8 will work is due to permissions. This is an area I struggle to communicate clearly about, but it has to do with Joomla FTP being necessary due to an APC installation and the cPanel owner and group permissions.

So, now I'm unable to make either version work. Seems like 4.0.8 left something behind, so that a seemingly clean install of 3.8 didn't work... bottom line is that now neither version can be made to work.
