Server Ram Issue???? 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I just received this from my hosting company:

/public_html/components/com_livechat/sync.php

Please fix this file because this file eats server ram every second.

Please advise>

Also which server is constantly going in and out of my site from Australia? Is that what is causing this???

Thank you,

Ates

Hi ates,

If your hosting company is telling you that, then you are most probably in a shared hosting environment and you are taking up too much server resources. For your scenario we recommend using our hosted version of JLive! Chat at the UltimateLiveChat.com

It is the same exact software, for the same exact price, but the only different is that it is easier to install, and it runs off our optimized network.

I already purchased the live chat module. Really did not intent on purchasing it twice.

I understand your point... if you had purchased your license within the last 30 days then we could transfer your license for free. Even though the software is technically the same as the stand-alone version, unfortunately, the hosted version is actually a whole different product/service we offer and our expenses for the hosted version is quite a bit, so we are not able to extend a free transfer to all our current customers for the hosted version.

Best Regards,
John

It seems to me that you guys really need to change the way that sync.php is handled. It should probably be a cron job instead of a http request.

Although that would be nice, unfortunately that architecture wouldn't work because the cron job would need to push the data to the desktop applications, which would mean that the desktop application would have to have a server mechanism built in, which would mean that users would have to configure their routers and firewalls to properly setup JLive! Chat, and that would very difficult to near impossible for a lot of non-technical people.

Please take a look at excluding JLive! Chat requests from your web log here:

www.cmsfruit.com/joomla-live-chat-docume...html#disable_logging

Its not very hard to exclude JLive! Chat requests to sync.php from your web log. Simply add a couple lines to your .htaccess file and make a small modification to your webserver conf file and you're all set!

On another note, we are only a week or two away from releasing the new major version of JLive! Chat which has been completely re-designed and re-written to be high performance and very light on resource usage, and also introduces many new powerful features and enhancements.
