License question 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

in your description about the Live Chat there is the following message.

"JLive! Chat is free for installations on 127.0.0.1 and localhost."

Those are accurately my settings, but now I have to buy a license.

Must I buy a license or not?

Thanks for a short answer.

Hi Hanko,

If the website URL that is displayed in the web address bar is localhost or 127.0.0.1... then JLive! Chat shouldn't prompt you to purchase a license. This was intended for developers or websites that are in development.

I just purchased JLive and found out the licensing scheme after going through the installation. Shame on us!

I'd like to understand the licensing in detail. I was told during the support chat that the license is checked every time a desktop app is activated. Is that the same as connected?

So, please clarify with specificity. This is very concerning

Hi Tom,

As I mentioned in our livechat session... the license is NOT checked on every chat session request... only once during initially launching the desktop application.

Regards,
John

As I peel back the onion, my eyes are not feeling that great. So, is it true every operator must have a desktop app and therefore has to have this code to one's website on the computer they want to use? So, traveling would require bringing your app with you? As opposed to just logging into your account and having the tools available as I would expect.

yes, that's correct, every operator must have a desktop app installed.
