TOPIC: I can't initiate a chat with someone online
#1148
I can't initiate a chat with someone online 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I updated my Live Chat to the newest version, 4.0.8, and I can not initiate a chat with someone that is online. I was able to do it in my older version.

How can I make it work?

Thank you.

Can you please submit a debug report by going to Help -> Debug Report -> Send to Technical Support from within the JLive! Chat desktop application?

Hi,

I submitted a debug report two days ago. When it is supposed to be working?

Thank you.

Using 4.1.0 version on Mac OSX 10.6.4 here and cannot do the following:

1. initiate chat with visitors

2. cannot tell who visitors are since the monitor never clears out. I have guests in the monitor that are from a month ago with the date of today, including testing from collegues, so I know that specific IP addresses are not new

3. cannot use the "Debug Report" feature. It always crashes JLive, so unable to get a report to the devs. Getting error:

Debug report submission failed with the following msg:
<ProtocolError for
174.129.234.86 /index2.php?option=com_joomlafruit&view=api&task=api&platform=darwin&ver=4.1.0: 500 Internal Server Error>

It appears the last couple of versions have broken this product. Have created emails to support in past, but still broken.

Please fix this or refund appropriately.

Ok, I have correct the following

1. initiate chat with visitors

I can do this, but if the guest closes their chat window, nothing tells me that they did and it just sits there. I can still send messages, but they are not getting anything nor does the chat window pop back open on their end.

2. cannot tell who visitors are since the monitor never clears out. I have guests in the monitor that are from a month ago with the date of today, including testing from collegues, so I know that specific IP addresses are not new

Appears that I fixed this by setting the "Website Activity Monitoring Expiration:" to 15 minutes. Not sure if this is the correct way to fix it, but it cleared out my monitor. Was set by default to 180 minutes. This appears to be working now.

3. cannot use the "Debug Report" feature. It always crashes JLive, so unable to get a report to the devs. Getting error:

Still broken

Ok, so getting some things cleared up. May be my own lack of attention to the app.

Hi Shannon,

Please ensure you have v4.1.0 component, plugin, module and desktop application installed. Please also ensure that everything is okay and green with your installation by going to Components -> JLive! Chat -> Information from within your Joomla administrator.

If problems persist, try uninstalling the JLive! Chat component, plugin, and desktop application only and then downloading a fresh copy from our website here:

www.cmsfruit.com/downloads.html#jlivechat

The website activity monitor will not expire any visitor who is still on your website, so basically if a visitor comes to your website and stays there for 13 minutes and you have your expiration set to 15 minutes, and they move to another page on your website, then the 13 minutes counter is reset and not another 15 minutes of the visitor being idle needs to occur for that visitor to be expired from the website activity monitor.

Regarding the debug report crashing... this is probably due to a over-sized jlivechat.log and the fix would be to shutdown the JLive! Chat desktop application, then delete the jlivechat.log file and restart JLive! Chat. What operating system are you using the JLive! Chat desktop application on so I can tell you where the jlivechat.log file is that you need to delete?

Regarding refunds... unfortunately, we do not offer refunds. Sorry If you are having issues with JLive! Chat we will be happy to assist you in resolving the issue in a timely manner.

Best Regards,
John
